We were searching for a new, innovative way to engage our TRiO Talent Search students. We collaborated with VEDX to integrate VR into our summer camps and job exploration lessons. VEDX has provided us with great support for our units for the past 2 years.

Workshops

Introductory VR for Educators (3 hours)

This fully online, live workshop is for educators wanting to understand the world of virtual reality education.

  • What are the tools?
  • What are some of the apps and examples?
  • What is a spatial computer?

The workshop begins in Zoom, and continues in VR using a Quest 2 Headset (required).

Intermediate VR for Educators (3 hours)

Introduction to VR (3 hours)

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate the benefits of using virtual reality in education
  • Explore a variety of metaverse applications
  • Experience full immersion and collaboration inside the metaverse
  • Upskill course development with virtual reality

Content Includes:

  • Understand the benefits of VR
  • Use virtual reality equipment
  • Develop safety protocols for physical space and surroundings
  • Explore the metaverse, fully immersed
  • Collaborate and communicate with course attendees inside the metaverse
  • Experience a variety of interactive learning opportunities

Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding of the potential uses of VR and will be ready to begin the virtual reality course development journey!
Designing Your VR Content (4 hours)

Objectives:

  • Explore a variety of metaverse course content tools within the applications
  • Understand the needs of the learner within the VR environment
  • Experience designing and placing content inside of the VR environment
  • Upskill course development with virtual reality

Content Includes:

  • Design virtual scenarios that challenge users to analyze situations, make decisions, and solve problems within the virtual reality environment.
  • Utilize tools to simulate their content into the VR environment.
  • User support to address any technical difficulties or inquiries related to the training workshops.
  • This support is provided through email, zoom, chat, or a dedicated support portal.

Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to develop their curriculum materials for use in the virtual reality environment.
